2 X Factor Contestants Eliminated!
Nicolo Festa was the first contestant to be eliminated from the competition tonight, receiving the lowest number of votes, resulting in him automatically being ejected.
This left Katie Waissell from the 'Girls' category and F.Y.D. from the 'Group' category to fight it out for the judges vote. (Videos of their performances to follow.
With three votes (Cheryl, Dannii and Louis) against them, F.Y.D. were the second act to be cut from this week's double elimination.
The X Factor Performances - Week One
Such an amazing song choice for Cher which really shows off her swag, although she seems a little drowned out by the backing track.
Treyc shows great vocals here, and it definitely shows why she was chosen as Cheryl's wildcard. Not entirely sure she had the best vocals of the night though Simon...
Katie just looks awful in her performance, like a cheap man's Lady GaGa tribute and as a result looks a bit desperate. Not sure the song did her any favours, way too big for her.
Wow, she has finally performed a fun, uptempo song. She just needs more confidence to enhance the performance but it's great to hear a different sound from her.
Amazing vocals, Mary really shows off her diva side. Although stop dressing her all in black, she's not Dawn French.
Storm...awful styling!! The performance didn't seem that inspired but we feel like he could do more.
Totally forgettable, and it's such a dated song. Very dull...he should surely be first to go?

One Direction definitely need to gel together more. They're obviously a typical boy band, but they need to sync their style more.
F.Y.D. had the difficult job of going first, we definitely want to see more from them though, although we expected more from them this time.
Belle Amie seemed ultra shy, which is odd as they're all good singers. We want to see them again however, and for them to up the performance.
Horrendous outfits, there's no need to tack them up so much! Surprisingly enjoyable even though only one seems to sing...
Gripping and intense, although due to him sounding too similar to those he's compared to I'm not sure if I could bear an entire album of his voice.
Fire the stylist. Good vocals but the performance felt a little average.
Gets off to a shaky start, he definitely needs to build his confidence but should get better and better.
Thought he'd be better...what happened to the diva? Disagree with Cheryl's sunglasses comment though, it's all about the performance ;-)
Marina & The Diamonds - Shampain
Marina and her diamonds are back with the next release from their album 'The Family Jewels,' the rather oddly spelt 'Shampain.' So, is this just another typical pop song or yet another topsy turvy and all round rather confusing offering from the Queen of Quirk? Well...what do you expect...
Continuing with her 80s vibe, this track is electro driven and harbours a rather aggressive thumping beat, which when blended with Marina's voice gives the track a touch of the Blondie effect. The vocals are clear and powerful, not to be outdone by the pulsating rhythm, it's clear Diamandis is at her best, displaying her extremely unique talents.
Contradictory to the irresistible uptempo backing track, are the depressing and altogether a little bit mental lyrics, which show that in this song, the Welsh beauty is not a happy bunny. Even the use of the evocatively spelt title, 'Shampain,' shows a darker side to the quirky exterior of Diamondis. It is clear that the songstress is bitter and lonely, which throws the upbeat rhythm into a bit of a paradox.
Whilst this song is not quite as catchy as her previous efforts such as 'Oh No!' and 'Hollywood,' it is still a worthy release, and we love the church choir-like breakdown to the 'I feel celestial' line towards the latter part of the track. Yet again, Marina shows that nothing is as it seems in her indecisive and eccentric world.
7/10 - Oh No!...not quite as spicey as 'Oh No!'
Australian Boxoffice Chart Roundup - 10th Oct
Kid’s animation ‘Despicable Me’ has maintained its place at the top of the Australian boxoffice, taking over $1million more than its closest rival, a new entry at #2, ‘Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls Of Ga’Hoole.’
The 3D owl adventure has shunned last week’s #2, ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ down to #4, just below ‘The Last Airbender.’ ‘Diary Of A Wimpy Kid’ has leapt up the chart from #8 to round off the top 5.
The only other new entry this week lies with ‘Dinner For Schmucks’ which opens with $1.06million in ticket sales and takes the #7 place, ahead of ‘The Other Guys,’ ‘Easy A’ and ‘Tomorrow, When The War Began’ which round off the top 10.

Pixie Lott - Broken Arrow
Pixie Lott has unveiled her re-release, 'Turn It Up Louder,' and is now ready to get her latest work, 'Broken Arrow,' into the charts. But is Pixie becoming more of a broken record?
The track comes from a different direction to the kind of music we have become used to from the young popstar, opening to an eerie and haunting sound. Lott's husky vocals are a welcome return and suit the vibe of the track, accentuating the "broken" aspect of the lyrics, and pull the pained feel off with aplomb.
Although this is Pixie's second break up track, this definitely has a different attitude to 'Turn It Up,' as it's obvious that in this case she is still heartbroken and has lost the feelgood nature of the former. The "missing him" lines are especially raw as the songstress shows emotion beyond her vulnerable years. This is certainly no case of teen-angst.
I'm not sure the hook on this track is the best we've heard from Pixie, and some people might have to stifle a bit of a laugh at Pixie's "...his love is still in me..." line. There is however an interesting concept to the song, how her latest beau can't quite complete her as she misses her ex. Her torment is clear to see, her new love "...could be her hero..." if only she could stop reminiscing about her ex.
Overall this isn't the strongest of Pixie's releases, although it does offer up an different story to the typical break up song. This is definitely a grower and should chart reasonably well although this definitely isn't #1 material. In saying this, we're still looking forward to hearing the other new material from 'Turn It Up Louder.'
6/10 - Broken Spice.
