Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are
Bruno Mars is gearing up to release his first solo single after featuring on several tracks for other artists including B.o.B. and Travie McCoy. This single was in fact due to be released next week but due to the extraordinarily high demand for the song, resulting in several cover versions of the song already charting high on the iTunes chart, Mars has taken action and unleashed the official version a week early. Be under no illusions, the track certainly lives up to the hype surrounding it.
'Just The Way You Are' is a simple, gentle, but evocative love song, following a melodic backing beat which is almost heartbeat-esque. Mars' smooth vocals compliment the track effortlessly and slide through the notes like butter over hot toast, something that has now become expected of the performer even though his time in the limelight has been considerably short.
The track focusses on a pure unadulterated love, which is made even more heartwarming due to the fact that according to Mars, his love is blindly unaware of her charm. This is instantly endearing if you interpret the track to believe that the girlfriend is simple modest, or that Mars can see a beauty that others can't.
The verses of the track instantly flow into the chorus and set them up perfectly and it is clear that the hook of this track isn't the catchy lyrics but Bruno Mars' voice itself, one that is so easy on the ear and yet obviously talented beyond his years.
Mars' soulful voice seems to get even better as the track progresses, as he skips through the notes as easily and carefree as children skipping through a park. This track will definitely increase Mars' popularity amongst the ladies and, of course, his wider fan base. As Mars states in the track, "...if perfect's what your looking for then just stay the same..." and that's beautifully true of this song.
10/10 - SPICE :D
