Uk Midweek Charts Roundup - Thursday 4th November

So chart buffs, we’re still looking at a Rihanna, Cheryl, Alexis, Bruno and Katy top five this week and in that order, and that is not likely to change too much before we hit Sunday’s charts.

Further down the chart we see Shakespears Sister still selling well at #9, whilst Duck Sauce’s ‘Barbra Streisand’ has risen back up to the #10 spot, although they’re currently just 182 sales ahead of The Saturdays, who’ve sold a solid 19,295 copies of their Flo Rida collaboration ‘Higher.’

will.i.am and Nicki Minaj rest at #12, 1,094 copies of their single ‘Check It Out’ behind The Saturdays, whilst B.o.B. and Rivers Cuomo come in at #16.

Nadine is still struggling further down the chart, currently at #24, one place above Roll Deep and Alesha Dixon at #25.

Cheryl Cole is still ahead on the album chart, shifting over 70,000 copies of her sophomore ‘Messy Little Raindrops,’ with Bon Jovi’s greatest hits LP in second place with 56,000 sales. The top five is completed with Rumer, Kings Of Leon and Jamiroquai.

Uk Midweek Charts Roundup - Tuesday 20th Oct

So Midweeks Boffs, it looks as though Bruno Mars is getting close to regaining his #1 slot after 3 weeks of being usurped by Tinie Tempah and Cee-Lo Green, which means that The Wanted are still looking at a #2 placing this week with their single ‘Heart Vacancy.’

The rest of the top 5 remains the same, with Duck Sauce at #3, Cee-Lo Green at #4 and Mike Posner at #5. However, Katy Perry has jumped up 3 places to occupy the #6 position with her latest offering ‘Firework,’ despite the criticisms circulating around her live vocals on Sunday’s X Factor performance.

There’s less movement for fellow X Factor performer Diana Vickers, whose wicked heart stays stuck at #12. Look on the bright side though D, at least you’re not Joe McElderry, who has slipped down to #20. *Winces*

Uk Midweek Charts Roundup - Tuesday 19th Oct

It looks as though we may see an end to Cee-Lo Green’s reign at the top this week, as Bruno Mars moves back up to the #1 spot after selling 50,000 copies of his single ‘Just The Way You Are,’ most probably after Matt Cardle’s X Factor performance of the track on Saturday.

The Wanted’s follow up to their chart topper ‘All Time Low,’ ‘Heart Vacancy’ has fired up to second place, with sales of 20,000 copies so far. Duck Sauce is still selling strong, occupying the #3 position, with Cee-Lo Green and Mike Posner rounding off the rest of the top 5.

Elsewhere, we see several other new entries crack the top 10, such as N-Dubz’s latest offering at #6, and, with thanks to her X Factor performance, we see Katy Perry’s Firework debuting at #9. Jay Sean and Nicki Minaj’s ‘2012 (It Ain't The End)’ completes the bottom of the top 10.

Further down the chart we see Diana Vickers at #12 with ‘My Wicked Heart,’ which has stalled after her promising live X Factor performance. Unfortunately for Joe McElderry, after debuting at #6 with his sophomore track ‘Ambitions,’ he’s now looking at a #17 placing in this week’s chart, whilst Pixie Lott also tumbles down to #21.

UK Charts Top Ten - 17th Oct 2010

This week sees Cee-Lo cling onto the coveted #1 spot, fending off fierce competition from both Bruno Mars, who moved up from #4 to #2, and Duck Sauce who debut at #3 with ‘Barbra Streisand.’

Tinie Tempah also has his name stamped all over the Top 10, being found at both #4, with Sweedish House Mafia and #5 with Eric Turner. Unfortunately for reigning X Factor champ Joe McElderry, his sophomore single ‘Ambitions’ has failed to crack the top 5, let alone the #1 spot and is this week’s second highest new entry at #6.

The end of the chart is filled by two tracks that have shot up the chart this week. At #9 is Mike Posner, who jumps 13 spaces from #22 with his single ‘Cooler Than Me,’ whilst Usher, still riding high on his X Factor performance, leaps from the #18 spot to #10 with ‘DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love.’

Other new entries haven’t fared quite so well, with Pixie Lott’s ‘Broken Arrow’ at #12 and Michael Bublé’s ‘Hollywood’ debuting at #17.

UK Midweek Charts Roundup - Wednesday 13th Oct

Cee-Lo Green is still outselling his rivals to keep his obscene claws on the top spot, but is being closely followed by Duck Sauce and ‘Barbra Streisand,’ which keep their #2 spot despite their two positions now being combined. Bruno Mars is still hanging around at #3, closely followed by reigning X Factor champ Joe McElderry, who’s #4 position has not had its sales combined with its position further down in the chart. Tempah rounds off the top 5.

Usher is still holding steady at #11 after his X Factor performance, just behind Pixie Lott’s ‘Broken Arrow’ at #10. Further down the top 15 is Michael Bublé with his new track ‘Hollywood.’

Elsewhere, ‘Mad World’ is still enjoying its X Factor revival at #18, whilst B.o.B.’s ‘Airplaines’ finds itself hauled back up into the top 30, alongside another of Usher’s live performances ‘OMG.’

Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand

A track that has rocketed up the charts already this week, and seemingly from nowhere, is Duck Sauce's oddly titled 'Barbra Streisand,' the hottest new dance track around. Babs must have something different to offer, so let's take a look to see what it is...

What is immediately evident from it is that this is a track like no other on the market at the moment which may well be a reason for its great success. In a nutshell, it's a simple dance tune with a man saying 'Barbra Streisand' over the top of it on repeat. Sounds weird right?

Despite this, the song does appear to hold some interesting and innovative features. Whilst it's true to say that the beat is very simple, it's accompanied by circling 80s style synths which create an appealing dance sound. We're not sure that anybody apart from Duck Sauce will ever know exactly WHY Barbra's name is said almost as a statement throughout the track, but we do know that in clubs everywhere, people will be screaming it when this is played.

The other musical feature to this track is a continuous use of "ooohs" but again in such a way that will stick like a pin in your mind so that you'll be singing along for weeks to come. Duck Sauce also treat us to some different sound effects than the usual dance track fare too, excluding the generic claps that come around halfway through, such as a shrill lazer sound, a shooting noise and what could be described as a spinning coin effect at the end, which all act to keep the listener engaged.

This track will not only have you jumping up and down euphorically but will also leave you reeling in the fact that Duck Sauce can break down "ooohs" in more ways than you ever thought would be humanely possible, as towards the end, each repeat seems to feature a different subtle change. In all, a hugely different but ultimately refreshing track that may not hold the ultimate staying power, but will certainly be stuck in people's heads for the foreseeable future.

UK Midweek Charts Roundup - Tuesday 12th Oct

So, back to the chart drawing board people! Cee-Lo Green looks set to maintain his grip on the #1 spot, meaning that we could have our second two week spanning #1 since Alexandra Burke’s ‘Start Without You.’ His closest competition comes from Duck Sauce with their dance track ‘Barbara Streisand,’ which also holds a place at #32.

Bruno Mars is still selling strongly and as a result keeps his track ‘Just The Way You Are’ high up the charts at #3. Joe McElderry is doing well but appears to have stalled a little at #4 with his single ‘Ambitions’ which can also be found at #27. The top 5 is rounded off by Tinie Tempah’s ‘Written In The Stars.’

Elsewhere, Travie McCoy re-enters the chart at #9 with his Bruno Mars collaboration ‘Billionaire’ thanks to FYD’s performance on The X Factor this weekend, whilst Pixie Lott looks set to round up the top 10 at the moment with ‘Broken Arrow.’

As a result of ‘The X Factor Effect,’ several other tracks have also benefitted, such as Usher’s ‘DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love’ which is a couple of spaces outside the top 10, Michael Andrews and Gary Jules’ ‘Mad World’ in the top 20 and Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’ appearing at the #33 position.
