We Put A Spell...On...You...

We thought we'd take time out to wish you guys a happy Halloween weekend, we encourage you all to dress up, have a bit of fun and to "trick or treat" to your heart's content!

Now, a lot of what Halloween's about to some people is to be scared witless by gory horror films etc, but we here take a different approach. Halloween is all about having fun, and so because of this, we're posting our favourite clip from our favourite Halloween movie, 'Hocus Pocus,' to try and get you in the party mood...

'The T-Mobile Welcome Back'

Ok...first up, we KNOW this doesn't strictly fall under anything we normally post about, because, let's face it, it's an advert. Perhaps we can file it away under 'vice' who knows, but we reallllllly wanted to post this because it's one of the best commercials we've seen for ages and genuinely made us smile, and that should be reason enough to post it in our opinion ;-)

Who's On Top? - Rihanna Covers UK Marie Claire

Rihanna has covered the UK's 'Marie Claire' to aide the promotion of her latest single 'Only Girl (In The World). We're loving this stripped back and altogether more feminine image she's now sporting and we can't wait for her 'Loud' LP.

Uk Midweek Charts Roundup - Thursday 28th Oct

Cheryl Cole is still sitting (insanely) pretty in the #1 position, with sales of almost 110,000 copies of the addictive ‘Promise This,’ which is now comfortably outstripping Rihanna’s ‘Only Girl In The World,’ with just over 82,000 sales. We have a feeling she may be able to topple Chezza next week though after her performance slot on The X Factor.

Bruno, Cee-Lo and Katy are rounding off the rest of the top 5 in that order, whilst at the lower end of the top ten we see Nelly, The Wanted and Michael Bublé.

Elsewhere, we see Peter Andre stalling at #17, whilst Ironik scrapes into the #40.

Who's On Top? - Beyoncé Covers Vogue Nippon Beauty

Beyoncé has covered Vogue Beauty and is rocking a hugely blingging dress and looks stunning showing off her curves. We can't wait for her upcoming album!

Ke$ha - Official Cannibal/Animal Re-release Cover

Here's the official cover for the deluxe version of Ke$ha's 'Cannibal' re-release, which features all the songs from both albums. We love the stapled together effect but love the standard 'Cannibal' cover more. Soz Ke$ha.

Music Video Première - Katy Perry - Firework

Katy Perry's latest video for her single 'Firework' has just dropped and we're loving it. With a bit of a Christina Aguilera circa 'Beautiful' feel to it, we love the firework effects and the feelgood theme.

Alexandra Burke - Official Re-Release Cover

Here's the cover to Alexandra Burke's re-release of 'Overcome,' and we're loving the transition from the pop diva cover of the original to this softer image. God she's treating us today!

Music Video Première - Alexandra Burke - The Silence

<a href="http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-gb&from=sp&fg=shareObject&vid=4be01b8d-c90e-48df-ac2b-2bab963f5fef" target="_new" title="Exclusive: Alexandra Burke - The Silence">Video: Exclusive: Alexandra Burke - The Silence</a>

So...this just gave us shivers. Here is the brand spanking new video for Alexandra's latest song from the re-release of her smash hit album 'Overcome.' The track has been slightly reworked for the single version but retains its power and emotion and is it just us or is this the best video we've seen from Miss Burke by a mile?!
We think we might be in love.

Uk Midweek Charts Roundup - Tuesday 26th Oct

After successfully reclaiming his #1 spot this week, it looks as though Bruno Mars’ victory will be short lived, that’s if Cheryl Cole has anything to do with it.

The lead single, ‘Promise This,’ from her sophomore album ‘Messy Little Raindrops,’ has currently shifted close to 70,000 copies and is on track to clinch the top spot this week, fending of red headed Rihanna, who with around 50,000 sales is looking at the #2 position.

Bruno Mars finds himself back at #3, just ahead of Cee-Lo Green at #4 and Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’ which comes in at #5.

Nelly’s latest offering, ‘Just A Dream’ finds itself at 8, with Michael Bublé at 10 following his X Factor slot on Sunday. The Wanted have had to deal with a dramatic tumble down from #2 to #9 this week, whilst Diana Vickers and Joe McElderry are now neighbours at the #22 and #23 spots respectively, although luckily for Joe it looks as if his album will chart highly at #2 this week.

That’s all for today folks, see you tomorrow :P

Who do YOU Want As Next Week's 'Star Power' Featured Artist? LAST CHANCE!

It's your last day to vote for who YOU want to be the next Star Power artist in the box at the start of every page...the clock's ticking...

The Only Way Is Essex - ITV2

We realised here at The Ice, Spice and Vice Files the other day that, whilst we seem to post loads of 'ice' and 'spice,' we've been somewhat lacking in our 'vice' section of the site. This is insane, as there are loadssss of thing that we take a guilty pleasure from, and, so do you by the looks of things as our last 'vice' post, on 'Lorraine Kelly's Big Fat Challenge,' has proved ever so popular with you all.

So, continuing with the TV theme, it's time to unveil our latest cringe-crush, ITV2's 'The Only Way Is Essex.' Now, for those of you who live outside of the UK or who have been living in a hole for the last couple of weeks and have avoided its heavy promotion, 'The Only Way Is Essex' is a so called "real life documentary drama." This means that, like some other shows, camera crews follow a group of people around to film their every day lives, however, in the interest of entertainment, much has also been scripted or set up for the camera. Just think 'The Hills,' only in...Essex.

What sets this apart from other similar shows, however, is its cast. We know that parts of this are scripted, and some painfully obviously so, but you can hardly believe that the characters in this are real people. The girls are all ridiculously ditzy and plastic, which makes for some entertaining viewing, whilst the guys are typical pretty boys.

We would like to draw your attention to three notable characters from the series. First up is Amy, who takes a lead role in the series, and is hilariously self-centred and "blonde," calling Rhinos "Rhinosauruses" on a trip to the zoo, whilst utilising her favourite words ("honey," "babe," and "funny") in almost every situation. Next up is the adorable Nanny Pat, who pops up frequently in episodes bringing gifts of food for her grandchildren for no apparent reason. Finally, Amy's gay cousin Harry, who is comedy gold. Whilst taking possibly the smallest role in the show, his camp one liners...or should that be worders...will become stuff of legend. Just listen out for him whenever he's on screen. He's likely to just say something like "beautiful," "funny," or "shut up."

The series has only just started airing so there's plenty of time to catch up...although you've already missed some dramatic love bust ups, a 'Vagazzle' treatment and Amy's 'interesting' trip to the zoo.

Of course there's plenty of drama, as is always associated with this kind of show, but being portrayed with their Essex accents, it's all quite hard to take seriously. If we're honest with you, it's pretty awful if you're looking for anything with any kind of depth, however, if you give this show a chance, we're sure you'll be begging for more.

VICE :D

PS - Here's the full first episode, plus one of our favourite clips featuring Amy (with the red hair) and her cousin Harry playing ping pong...

And here's the 1st part of Episode 1, with part 2 following underneath...ENJOY!!!

Black Eyed Peas - Official New Album Cover!

The Black Eyed Peas have unveiled the latest artwork for their forthcoming LP, 'The Beginning.' We're quite frankly LOVING the retro block-art style, even if we're still unsure of the title...

Charlotte Church - Back To Scratch

Well, opera/pop singer Charlotte Church is ready to make her music comeback, and has selected the title track from her upcoming self funded pop album 'Back To Scratch' to do just that. Is the Welsh songstress taking that title literally however, or is she just a big old tease?

It is obvious from the moment the track opens that this is definitely not the same sound we've heard from her before, however, Church has managed to subtly add some little features that are reminiscent of her previous musical works. With a jaunty, twinkly backing track that has a classical twist, especially when it comes to the chorus, the track is very light and easy to listen to.

Church's vocals also seem lighter and more stripped back than we heard on her 'Tissues And Issues' LP, and there are some hints of her infamous operatic trill because of this. Despite the airy vocals, at points we can hear her rich tones shining through.

However, we find that the lyrics don't flow perhaps as well as they might, and come across as a little disjointed which does seem a little paradoxical against the flowing nature of the backing track. However, we will allow Miss Church this slight fault as she does deserve a chance to experiment with her sound.

The chorus is more funky and uptempo than the rest of the track, but yet again we can hear a slight reference back to her past, as we find a West End presence in her vocals. Despite this, we find that it is a refreshing hook in a weird kind of way, perhaps due the fact that it's a different sound to what's on offer from other artists at the moment. Either way, something that could have been a bit of a car crash really does work for us, despite the many reasons for why it shouldn't.

We feel that Church is extremely skilled to show more of her origins in this track, whilst maintaining a pop feel. We also love the accompanying video to the track which, whilst fairly low budget, remains fresh and interesting. All in all, whilst this may not be as much of a hit as 'Crazy Chick,' we applaud her for taking a risk, let's just hope it gets the recognition it deserves and doesn't simply slip under the radar...

7/10 - Spice

Ironik ft. Jessica Lowndes - Falling In Love

So...90210 actress Jessica Lowndes has teamed up with Brit rapper Ironik on his new single? Bit random you say? How does it work out we hear you cry! Well, stay tuned and we'll reveal all...

The track gets off to a fairly good start, with a wander through Lowndes' feature chorus, which, surprisingly, shows off a more sophisticated vocal than the kind of thing we're used to from other 'actress-turned-singers.' Her voice has an almost country-esque tinge to it and is a lot deeper than the girly trills we expected. Despite this, she is able to pull off the gentle, vulnerable side of the chorus with sincerity, although we'll come to its content later on...

Ironik on the other hand really adds nothing special to the track, and we can feel a Chipmunk influence coming through, possibly circa 'Oopsy Daisy,' as the rhythm, backing and even Ironik's vocals bear significant resemblance.

The song itself is unfortunately just a generic love song, the kind we've heard before from every 3rd rate artist out there, and when Ironik starts spitting lyrics such as "...you're not just my girl, my best friend too..." you just know it's not going to get much better. We see nothing original in this track, and whilst we know it's a love song, Ironik seems to have completely abandoned his bad boy image, instead adopting a sickly loved up persona, something that in itself may alienate some of his fans.

This is definitely a teen aimed song, the hopes and aspirations that Lowndes expresses, of eternal love and never wanting to cry another tear, are essentially juvenile and unrealistic, although we do give her merit for carrying the song.

We feel as if this, albeit rather random, teaming could have been a lot more promising, as Lowndes clearly has talent. However, with this kind of track under her belt we're not sure she's going to be hugely sought after even though it's clearly not her fault. Whilst this is a nice enough track we can't help feel that it's a victim of its own desperation.

2/10 - Brrr...Ice :-(

Music Video Première - Afrojack ft. Eva Simons - Take Over Control

Here's a song we here at The Ice, Spice and Vice Files love but haven't posted anything about as yet. So, what better time to introduce you to it than at the première of its music video :D We're sensing a Rihanna/Ke$ha influence in the vid, but think Eva looks amazing and it's such a tunnnne! Enjoy!

Uk Midweek Charts Roundup - Tuesday 20th Oct

So Midweeks Boffs, it looks as though Bruno Mars is getting close to regaining his #1 slot after 3 weeks of being usurped by Tinie Tempah and Cee-Lo Green, which means that The Wanted are still looking at a #2 placing this week with their single ‘Heart Vacancy.’

The rest of the top 5 remains the same, with Duck Sauce at #3, Cee-Lo Green at #4 and Mike Posner at #5. However, Katy Perry has jumped up 3 places to occupy the #6 position with her latest offering ‘Firework,’ despite the criticisms circulating around her live vocals on Sunday’s X Factor performance.

There’s less movement for fellow X Factor performer Diana Vickers, whose wicked heart stays stuck at #12. Look on the bright side though D, at least you’re not Joe McElderry, who has slipped down to #20. *Winces*

See you tomorrow :-)

Who's On Top? Glee Covers GQ Magazine

W-O-W-Z-A.

Now we know it says on the cover 'Glee Gone Wild,' but once you see some of the feature shots below, you'll see those "high-schoolers" really have. In fact it's almost a bit weird seeing them dress/act so provocatively as we're so used to seeing them as the losers of the show. We guess that's why you have to remember they're characters not real people...Anyway, because we love their spread so much we couldn't just pick the normal 3 best shots to show you, so we've gone for 5. Hold on to your hats...

We think it's time for you to go and cool yourselves down now, you look a bit flustered ;-)

Who's On Top? 50 Cent & Soulja Boy Cover XXL Magaxine

50 Cent and Soulja Boy share this cover of 'XXL' magazine, on which they show off their guns, their bling...and their...headscarves...Interesting choice 50 Cent. :S Also, is that an 'outie' we spot Soulja Boy?

Who's On Top? - Best Cover - 6th Oct - 20th Oct

That's right folks, it's been another fortnight which means it's time for us to select our favourite celebrity magazine covers from the past 14 days!

In 3rd place we've chosen Mary J. Blige's feature on Ebony magazine to help celebrate its 65th birthday celebrations. We love it because of its retro feel and the fact she's the spitting image of Diana Ross! Crazy!

In 2nd place is Rihanna's cover of Billboard magazine. We love the way she manages to ditch all dark connotations that could have followed her from her 'Rated R' era and looks stunning in sepia tones.

Finally...in 1st place...is Soulja Boy on the cover of the first digital issue of 'Vibe' magazine. We feel it encompasses his character completely, and is quirky and original. Move over Nicki Minaj - we have a new Best Cover :)
