US Boxoffice Chart Roundup - 17th Oct

‘Jackass 3D’ has smashed its way to the top of the US Boxoffice this week, with a huge haul of $50million in its opening weekend.

The third movie in the Jackass franchise, which reunites its original cast, has prevented comic book adaptation ‘Red,’ starring Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren, into 2nd place, taking an impressive $22.5million.

These debuts have shoved previous topper ‘The Social Network’ down to #3 with $11million in ticket sales, which, whilst good, pale in comparison to its rivals. ‘Secretariat’ and ‘Life As We Know It’ complete the top 5.

Sales at the lower end of the chart remain strong, with the #10 movie, ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ still cashing in with $2.4million.
