News Bites - 10pm

  • Today American Idol host Ryan Seacrest announced at a press junket the brand new judge lineup for the show's 10th season. Joining regular Randy Jackson will be Aerosmith's frontman Steven Tyler and pop veteran Jennifer Lopez...validating the rumours that have been flying around for some time now. As well as this, Interscope/Geffen/A&M Records chairman Jimmy Iovine will be joining Idol as an ongoing mentor to the contestants. Throughout the season, he will be shown helping the contestants to improve their craft. On being appointed a new judge, Tyler said “I’m going to bring some rock to this roller coaster," whilst J-Lo stated (rather long-windedly) that “It’s about concentrating on the moment, do the best you can and just live. … I’m looking for the next Michael Jackson.” Let's see if the new lineup will boost the show's dwindling ratings...

  • Radio One frontman Chris Moyles has slammed the BBC in a 30 minute broadcast rant during his breakfast show. The radio anchor revealed that the corporation had failed to pay him any wage since July, and accused the BBC of having a "huge lack of respect." During his outburst, Moyles went on to say "Do you know what, I wasn't going to come in today...I hate the fact I've been put into a position by Radio 1 and the BBC that I don't want to be in...I'm very very angry, very very angry or being put into this position. I can't tell you how furious I am. I haven't been paid since the end of July and no-one cares about it. No one's bothered." After blaming the issue on some admin errors, Moyles went on to apologise, before immediately withdrawing it, saying "Sorry. Actually I'm not sorry for the outburst because I need to get it out of my system. Fine, you can dock me five minutes' pay for this morning, I'll give you that." The DJ also made reference to the fact that he has recently split from his girlfriend of 8 years.

  • The dance due Groove Armada have announced that, come the end of their latest UK and Australian tour, they will split as a full live performance act, but will continue to DJ and produce other artist's work. In their statement, the band said that "We've crossed and re-crossed the world with this band and crew. There's no other team like it. With their help, GA live became the sound of legendary nights from Mount Fuji to Moscow. It's not often in the spotlight maybe; but ask the people who have come and filled the tents and surrounded the stages for the last decade. A massive thanks to all of them, for staying with us on a journey from Richie Havens to Saint Saviour." An album of live remixes from their latest 'Black Light' album, which peaked at #26 on the UK charts, will be released later in the year, entitled 'White Light.'

  • Britain's Got Talent runner up Susan Boyle has announced the tracklisting of her latest album, 'The Gift.' The LP, which serves as Boyle's first ever Christmas album, will hit the shelves on November 29th and features a cover of Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day' as it's lead single.
