Sia - Clap Your Hands

With a guitar opening that Snow Patrol would be proud of, Sia's latest single soon kicks off with the addition of some playful drums, showing off an uptempo, fun number that should have even the driest musical critics tapping their feet.

Sia's cool vocals are perfectly suited to rival the summery tones of the track to create an interesting and captivating song. The lyrics are however difficult to catch and will take a few listens before you're fully singing along. However, this doesn't distract from the song as a whole and the uptempo vibe of this number is perfect for this season, easily lending itself to visions of summer festivals.

Sia's husky vocals are captivating, and the song's fillers (The standard "ohhhhs" etc) don't sound so generic with her more unique tone. Furthermore, despite its focus being on attempting to escape a feeling of misery, it remains uplifting, with the chorus demanding "...come on dance, take a chance, on romance..."

Even if the lyrics are harder to grasp than other more commercial tunes, I have no doubt that you won't be able to stop singing the 'Clap Your Hands' hook over and over in your head if you give this track a chance to gain a few playcounts.

8/10 - Spice :-)
